Why I’ve Chosen to Support One Woman at a Time
Why I’ve Chosen to Support One Woman at a Time — With Every Wedding We Book
There are a lot of things I’ve thought about as Bloomify has grown.
The flowers.
The weddings.
The kind of work I want to be known for.
But also — what kind of business I actually want to build.
Because for me, this was never just about creating beautiful wedding flowers. It was about creating something that feels good to run. Something that reflects my values, not just my aesthetic.
And that’s where this came from.
A small decision that felt important
From now on, with every wedding we book, we’ll be making a donation to One Woman at a Time.
It’s not a huge amount per wedding.
But it’s intentional. And it’s consistent.
And that matters more to me than doing something big once, and then forgetting about it.
Why this charity
One Woman at a Time supports women and girls in some of the most vulnerable communities around the world — helping to provide access to education, healthcare, and opportunities that simply aren’t available to everyone.
It’s the kind of work that creates long-term change, not just short-term support.
And as a business run by a woman — and as a mum raising children (including daughters) — that felt like something I wanted to stand behind.
Not loudly. Not performatively. Just… as part of how we operate.
The connection with flowers
This decision also links back to something I think about often in this industry.
Flowers don’t just come from one place.
While I love British flowers — their movement, their seasonality, everything about them — the reality is that the global flower industry supports thousands of livelihoods in countries like Kenya and Ethiopia.
Entire communities are built around growing flowers.
So for me, it’s never been about drawing a hard line between “this is good” and “this isn’t”. It’s about understanding the bigger picture, and making choices that feel thoughtful.
Supporting One Woman at a Time felt like a natural extension of that.
What it means for you
If you book Bloomify for your wedding, this isn’t something you need to opt into or think about.
It just happens.
A small part of your wedding will go towards supporting another woman, somewhere else in the world — her opportunities, her independence, her future.
Quietly. Without fuss.
Why I’m sharing this
Not because I think it’s groundbreaking.
And not because I think it makes us “better” than anyone else.
But because I think it’s important to build businesses that reflect what we care about — not just what we sell.
And this is one small way I’m doing that.
If you’re planning a wedding and choosing suppliers who feel aligned with your values matters to you, then this is part of what we offer.
Not just flowers.
But something a little bigger, woven in alongside them.
